During a jaunt through the Galleria Korean market, I discovered this Pho vendor. Hmmm a Pho restaurant in the middle of a Korean market? Puzzled but curious I give it a whirl. How much of an investment could a bowl of Pho be?
Turns out the large bowl of the house special Pho is $6.50. Not bad considering it includes thinly sliced meat, tendon, and tripe. Everything I love in a bowl of Pho. Of course it comes with the obligatory dish of bean sprouts, sprig of Thai basil, and slices of Jalapeno. To my surprise they give you some cilantro and upon request a pile of thinly sliced white onions. So far so good.
As for the broth, its actually good. No off smell of innards to it. Just the savory fragrant smell I've become accustomed to. I busted out the hoisin and sriracha sauce and went to town. All the ingredients were fresh and flavorful. It all smelled and tasted like authentic Vietnamese Pho. I spied the crew that worked there and me thinks they are NOT Vietnamese. Nevertheless the meal was worth it. Cheaper than the other options in that food court. Oh BTW, the banh mi, I did not try but for $5.99 you get a banh mi and a can of soda. Now that is quite pricey but I might try anyway.
